Oh Yeah...about that working on staff thing...guilty! Unfortunately, working in a church can be very much like working a business...doing for the boos but not with the boss.

Great depth and validity to the statement "...and doing everything"! Our technology has now obligated us to do more faster where it was initially designed to help us do easier and have more time. Our society demands that we fill up our time making "the man" happy (whoever the "man" is that is over us). But there is a subtle seduction in our thinking that we actually can meet the expectations of everyone around -- we CAN do everything, not just more! I believe that our disregard for God as sole sovereign and omni-everything coupled with our insatiable desire to sit in His chair is at the core of our supreme delusion and eventual frustrations.

I think the Western environment "demands" our full attention to doing, and doing everything. Even the big things I feel I have to mull over never get my full attention. The thoughts are thrown in during the brief periods of inactivity (i.e. driving or taking a shower).

Through this flows a lack of meditation towards anything, everything, and everyone (God included).

I always thought how great it would be to be on staff at a church or ministry. I would be able to spend half my day on mediation and time with the Lord. The more I get to know those in ministry, the more I learn this is not the case. In the end we are all culpable of falling into the trap of constant motion - moving from one demand to the next.

Thanks for the suggestions. I would look up Psalm 119:18, but I do not have the time... uh, oh; I have not time. I need to move on to my next demanding task. :)
